Project Summary
Boggy Creek - LaRue, Texas
Nestled in the rolling hills of the Neches River watershed, Boggy Creek is a private hunting ranch designed as a peaceful family retreat. Working alongside Design Workshop and Escobedo Group, Landvisions provided landscape construction, grading and drainage, irrigation system design, native wildflower meadow restoration, engineered planting soil, and long-term estate landscape management across more than 30 acres. Every element was designed to feel as though it had naturally belonged to the property for generations.
The Challenge
The client’s vision was simple: preserve the land’s natural character while creating functional outdoor spaces. Mature trees, dramatic elevation changes, and existing topography all needed to remain central to the design. Extensive grading and drainage, stormwater management design, and a compressed construction schedule added another layer of complexity to an already demanding project.
Materials & Products
Native seed mixes for wildflower meadows, granite pathways with stabilizer, custom steel planter walls, natural stone veneer, free-standing masonry walls, HDPE underground drainage, outdoor low-voltage LED lighting, native grasses and wild shrubs, rustic asphalt drive and parking court.
Our Approach
Rather than reshape the property, our team worked with the land. Buildings, trails, and gathering spaces were carefully positioned to minimize disturbance while preserving views and native vegetation. Custom drainage systems, engineered planting soils, native wildflower meadows, hardscape stone pathways, and thoughtfully selected materials allowed the finished landscape to blend seamlessly into its surroundings.
Client Collaboration
Over the course of this multi-year project, we worked closely with the client through every phase of construction. Regular communication and education, especially around establishing native grasses and wildflowers, helped set realistic expectations and ensured the landscape matured exactly as intended.
The Result
Today, Boggy Creek feels less like a newly built property and more like a ranch that has always existed within the East Texas landscape. Native restoration, carefully integrated hardscapes, and thoughtful site planning created a timeless retreat that celebrates the land instead of competing with it. The project has also earned recognition through the National Association of Landscape Professionals Awards program for its craftsmanship and execution.
