Pine Mills

Wooded Hillside Retreat

Set into a wooded hillside with sweeping southwestern views, this property is defined by golden-hour light across the lawn and pool terrace—an ideal early-evening cocktail view from the covered patio. The home’s placement was carefully considered to create a welcoming approach along a curved gravel drive that winds through the rural landscape and passes beneath the bridged second-story connector. Garage positioning keeps vehicles discreetly screened to the rear, while backyard spaces are oriented to capture late-afternoon sun and expansive long distance views of rolling hills and open meadows. By focusing intensive landscape improvements near the home, the design remains low-maintenance and allows native trees and grasses to shape the experience -inviting play, exploration, and a stronger connection to the land beyond.

Pool with a Sunset View

The pool and spa were composed as a centered focal point from the kitchen, creating a clear visual axis to the meadow and trees beyond. The spa’s placement within the pool reinforces symmetry while maintaining a strong connection to the covered patio and game lawn. An IPE deck anchors the north end for comfortable sunbathing and adds warmth and texture – softening the surrounding hardscape with natural material contrast.
