Successful Experiment
To “go make something good happen” you often need to start with a great cup of coffee. What began as an experiment between two childhood friends grew into a local favorite – so popular it expanded into multiple locations. With persistence, a strong design team, and inspiring branding, the owners transformed an abandoned house into Local Habit: a welcoming neighborhood spot where people of all ages can meet, study, and linger over conversation and a favorite brew. Landvisions supported the project through site planning for vehicular circulation, parking layout and material selection, establishing the framework for the outdoor patio size, shape, and materials, and developing a cohesive planting palette to soften the site and strengthen the experience from street to entry.
Parking Made Simple
In the gravel parking area, locally sourced railroad timbers serve as simple, durable curb stops that reinforce the site’s rustic character. The gravel surface is subtly graded to drain toward a planted median, where trees provide shade and native grasses support stormwater retention – balancing function, aesthetics, and low-maintenance performance.
