We’re thrilled to share that Landvisions has been recognized with a Bronze Award of Excellence from the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP) for our recent design-build project featured in The Edge magazine! blog.landscapeprofessionals.org
Nestled in Tyler, Texas, this once-challenging site was a small, wooded, and elevated backyard with big dreams attached. Our clients envisioned a space where they could entertain friends and family—despite the limited square footage and tricky terrain.
Balancing Vision with Reality
From the outset, our team collaborated closely with the homeowners to create a plan that balanced aesthetics, functionality, and the natural environment. We preserved existing mature trees and designed with privacy in mind, keeping ample vegetative screening along the yard’s perimeter.
The final design includes:
- A custom infinity-edge pool and spa as the centerpiece
-
Covered outdoor living space with a full kitchen and dining area
-
Brick retaining walls, irrigation, lighting, and lush plantings
-
Outdoor shower and artificial turf play lawn for games and leisure
Overcoming Construction Challenges
The installation phase wasn’t without its hurdles. Limited backyard access, groundwater runoff, and unpredictable soil conditions forced our crew to think creatively—literally building parts of the pavilion out of sequence and battling sump pumps and tight timelines. Through it all, we stayed committed to quality and client satisfaction.
A Backyard You’ll Never Want to Leave
After more than two years of careful design and construction, the results speak for themselves. What was once a wooded challenge is now a stunning, cohesive outdoor retreat tailored for entertainment and everyday life. And the NALP Bronze Award of Excellence is a testament to the creativity, craftsmanship, and teamwork behind the project.
