You have a passion for designing meaningful outdoor spaces while mentoring others and elevating the quality of every project around you. You enjoy meeting new clients, listening to their goals, building trust, and guiding them through a thoughtful design process that results in extraordinary outdoor environments.

You are someone who:

• Holds a Degree in Landscape Architecture

• Is a Licensed Landscape Architect (or actively pursuing licensure)

• Has 8+ years of professional landscape architecture experience

• Has strong conceptual design abilities and excellent technical knowledge

• Thinks creatively while remaining practical and construction-minded

• Builds strong relationships and communicates confidently with clients

• Communicates ideas clearly through sketches, graphics, presentations, and construction documents

• Thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

• Enjoys mentoring and developing younger designers

ABOUT THIS POSITION

As a Senior Landscape Architect, you’ll play a leadership role within our design studio while remaining actively involved throughout the entire Design|Build process.

In addition to leading exceptional design work, you’ll serve as a trusted advisor to prospective and existing clients – building lasting relationships, helping shape project vision from the very first conversation, and guiding projects from initial inquiry through construction.

You’ll lead projects from concept through construction while collaborating closely with designers, estimators, project managers, and field teams to ensure every project exceeds client expectations. You’ll also play an important role in the continued growth of the firm by helping prospective clients understand the Landvisions process and developing proposals that establish successful projects from day one.

This is a full-time position based in our Tyler, Texas design studio.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Business Development & Client Leadership

• Serve as the first point of contact for prospective clients by fielding initial project inquiries and discovery calls.
• Meet with prospective clients to understand their goals, priorities, budget, schedule, and vision for their property.
• Build strong, long-term client relationships founded on trust, responsiveness, and exceptional service.
• Develop design proposals, scopes of work, and professional fee estimates.
• Guide clients through the Landvisions Design | Build process while establishing realistic expectations and creating confidence in our team.
• Lead engaging client presentations throughout the design process.
• Maintain proactive communication with clients from project kickoff through construction completion.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify opportunities for future work, referrals, and continued client relationships.

Design Leadership

• Lead the design process from site analysis through final construction documentation.
• Develop creative concepts that balance aesthetics, function, constructability, and budget.
• Present design concepts confidently to clients and project stakeholders.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior designers.
• Establish design standards and promote excellence across the design studio.

Project Leadership

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining exceptional quality and responsiveness.
• Coordinate with builders, architects, engineers, surveyors, and specialty consultants.
• Collaborate closely with construction project managers throughout implementation.
• Participate in construction observation and resolve field-related design issues.
• Help maintain project schedules, budgets, and production timelines.

Technical Production

• Produce high-quality construction documents including:
  • Site layout plans
  • Grading and drainage plans
  • Planting plans
  • Hardscape detailing
  • Construction details
• Review drawing sets for quality control, constructability, and technical accuracy.

Client Experience

• Deliver an exceptional client experience throughout every phase of the project.
• Communicate proactively and professionally with clients, consultants, and internal team members.
• Lead design meetings and presentations with confidence and enthusiasm.
• Help clients navigate design decisions while balancing aesthetics, budget, and long-term value.
• Foster relationships that lead to repeat business and client referrals.

• Strong AutoCAD and Land F/X proficiency.
• Experience with SketchUp and Lumion (or similar visualization software).
• Adobe Creative Suite proficiency.
• Excellent hand sketching and graphic communication skills.
• Strong understanding of grading, drainage, planting, and construction detailing.
• Knowledge of residential and commercial landscape construction methods.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to mentor others while remaining collaborative and team-oriented.

COMPENSATION

$100,000–$150,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications, plus performance bonus.
