ABOUT THIS POSITION
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Landscape Construction Estimator to develop accurate cost estimates for high-end residential and commercial landscape construction projects. This role is critical to the success of project planning and profitability, requiring a strong understanding of landscape construction methods, materials, labor requirements, and industry pricing.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare detailed landscape estimates.
- Perform site visits and assessments to gather data for project costing.
- Develop material, labor, and equipment cost estimates for a wide variety of landscaping services (e.g., hardscapes, landscape structures, sitework & grading, drainage, irrigation, planting, lighting).
- Solicit pricing from vendors and sub-contractors and evaluate quotes for accuracy and competitiveness.
- Collaborate with project managers and designers to ensure accurate scoping and planning.
- Prepare and present bid proposals and takeoffs in a clear and professional manner.
- Maintain a database of historical cost data and vendor pricing.
- Monitor project budgets and costs to support ongoing and completed projects.
- Assist in value engineering and cost-saving initiatives when necessary.
- Stay current with industry trends, pricing, and construction methods.
ABOUT YOU
- Proven experience as a Landscape Estimator or in a related estimating or landscape construction role.
- Degree or certification in Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, Horticulture, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of landscape construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
- Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Aspire, LMN, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar), and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with and/or ability to use AutoCAD or closely aligned drafting software.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and technical documents.
- Excellent analytical, math, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimating projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
